Mr. Jernigan has written North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Law and Practice, the leading text on workers’ compensation law in North Carolina. First published in 1988 this text is now in its fourth edition and is widely used by anyone practicing in this field. He is board certified in workers' compensation law, and has represented injured workers for over thirty years, is an adjunct professor of Workers’ Compensation Law at North Carolina Central University School of Law, and is listed in the current edition of Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers. He is the past president of a national group of workers’ compensation lawyers (WILG) and currently serves on the Industrial Commission's Advisory Council. He is one of only 42 workers' compensation attorneys in the United States authorized by the National Football League Players Association to represent its members, and he has also represented many individuals in civil jury trials involving personal injury matters.
